What is the Epson EP-706A Waste Ink Counter?
Epson inkjet printers have sponges inside them to absorb and collect waste inks, known as the waste ink pad.
Ink is collected in these pads during initial printer runs, cleaning cycles, and when printing borderless photos. During printhead cleaning, ink is flushed through the printhead to the waste ink pad.
Common Epson EP-706A Issues:
– The printer does not turn on.
- Two red lights flashing alternately for ink and paper icons after turning on the printer.

Washing Epson EP-706A Printer Ink Pads
Some printers, like the Artisan and PX/TX 800/700 series, and the Epson EP-706A have a panel beneath the printer where the pads are easy to remove. Once removed, wash the pads under running water without using any chemicals. Squeeze out excess water and dry with a hair dryer. Result: clean, usable pads!
For printers where the ink pads are difficult to remove, it is often better to have a professional handle it, or to use an external waste ink collection box.
